The P-8 Sustainment Chief Engineer leads the technical activities to plan, design, develop and verify the complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions that encompass the P-8 Support Systems for all P-8 customers. This position will represent the Sustainment organization to the United States Navy (NAVAIR/NAVSUP/DLA/CPRG), as well as Boeing Defense Systems (BDS) and Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) integrated product teams (IPTs), as well as international customers.At Boeing, we are all innovators on a mission to connect, protect, explore and inspire. Find your future with us.Position Responsibilities:This position leads analyses to optimize the various systems in the P-8 Support System including affordability, reliability, maintainability, and other specialties as needed.

The P-8 Sustainment Chief Engineer is a primary advisor to program leadership and represents P-8 Sustainment in Program meetings including the Chief Engineers Council, Program Change Board, Program Reviews and the Division Safety Meeting.

The P-8 Sustainment Chief Engineer is the advocate for Customer support needs and as such the position requires intimate knowledge of how the various Customers’ Support Systems work.

A general understanding of how the P-8 aircraft and mission systems operate is needed. The position requires general knowledge of how BCA supports aircraft as well as how P-8 Sustainment is organized and operates.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with a heavy customer focus. The position frequently requires out of the box work around solutions to mitigate readiness issues.

The P-8 Sustainment Chief Engineer coordinates and leads resolution of safety issues in Sustainment.

The P-8 Sustainment Chief Engineer role includes the Technical Lead Engineer for many of the engineers in P-8 Sustainment including advising and mentoring.

Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.

Leads others to evaluate customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.

Leads analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Leads analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.

Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.

Security Clearance:This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.(Required Education, Skills and Experience)Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering

10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+6 years' related work experience, Master+8 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation

Do you have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship?

Experience working on commercial or commercial derivative aircraft
