Looking for a summer job that provides you with income and fun all in one Then look no further! Read below to discover if becoming a whitewater river rafting guide is the job for you!

Through River Recreation’s industry-leading whitewater training, you will learn how to guide class 3 and 4 whitewater river rapids and how to respond to river rescues. In addition, you will receive basic medical training such as administering an AED as well as Advance First Aid and CPR training. If you’re interested in a job as a whitewater guide in a fun, adventurous, and professional setting, then give us a call! We have part-time, full-time, and weekends-only positions available.

If you are currently or have been in the Military, Police, Fire, Rescue/ medical field, or have a CDL, you are highly encouraged to apply. If you enjoy hiking, camping, skiing, snowboarding, climbing, or thriving in an outdoor recreation setting, this is the perfect job for you!

If you have no experience, you will be required to attend and pass our Commercial Whitewater Guide Training Class per State of Washington law. Not only do we offer this required class, but our class provides more than the minimum hours required by Washington State Law for whitewater raft guides, and you will learn to work with our amazing group of senior guides who will help welcome you as a new employee to our team. Experienced guides are always welcome to contact us about opportunities too!

River Recreation offers industry-leading training by professional and extremely experienced guides in our Washington State-approved Guide Training class. Our class is also nationally accredited as it has been recommended by National Geographic Explorer (2007) as one of the nation's top guide training programs. We are looking to employ at least 20 part-time guides and 6 full-time guides to work between May and September. This is the perfect opportunity for those looking for an adventurous and fun-filled summer job!

No previous experience is necessary and we provide all the essential gear needed for a river environment. Our trainers collectively have over 150 years of experience and over 1 million miles of river travel under their belt. Our course trainers have experienced rivers in the Alaskan tundra, Mexico, South America, Central America, and as far away as the Australian outback. Our instructors come from all over the world.

We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, dedication, and team effort. Most importantly we are looking for those who can bring to the river their unique personality. River guiding is similar to entertaining as you must be able to put on your one-man show in a raft. Providing entertainment while being able to instill safety and confidence in your customers and/or river audience is key. This is a job, or rather an enjoyment, where you can let your true self shine through while showing people all that the outdoors of Washington State has to offer. Having reliable transportation is encouraged, however, there is always an opportunity for carpooling

A Note about working for River Recreation

Becoming a professional river rafting guide is not for everyone. As much as we try to provide a nurturing, training environment, our guide training program still has an element of a whitewater boot camp. This is not a class for the weak or non-swimmers. The owner of the company, who brings over 30 years of experience and 1/2 million river miles, teaches most of the class hands-on. If challenging whitewater is what you are looking for, then this is the class and adventure for you!
