AMG Aluminum is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Alloying Assistant to support the production of master alloy products at our Malaga, WA facility. This role is vital to ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production processes. The Alloying Assistant works closely with the Furnace Operator and other team members to meet production standards while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Set up heat additions per Standard Operating Procedures, identifying all raw materials and remelt used.
Inspect and stack ingots according to specifications, weighing and identifying each heat, and taking required samples.
Safely operate a 20-ton overhead crane to transfer heats from the making furnace to the casting station, ensuring the transfer ladle is clean and ready for use.
Operate a forklift safely to transport materials within the plant.
Assist the rod mill crew during start-up operations.
Color-code, package, finish, and approve the final product per specifications.
Collect and record all required data accurately.
Provide support to the Furnace Operator as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
Perform plant and production duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle materials, and reach with arms.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Must be able to lift and/or move:
Regularly up to 10 pounds,
Frequently up to 25 pounds,
Occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications:
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Fluent in English, with the ability to speak, read, and write clearly.
Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
Prior experience in manufacturing or production is preferred but not required.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions.
Comfortable working in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment with hot and cold temperatures.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Work on a rotating shift, Monday through Friday with potential for overtime and Saturday shifts.
