Blue Star Growers, a pear and apple packing warehouse located in Cashmere, Washington, is seeking a Receiving Supervisor to oversee the receiving staff and straddle carrier drivers. Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Receiving Supervisor is responsible for day to day operational oversight of receiving staff and straddle carrier fleet to include dispatching, creating work schedules, creating and updating storage maps, enforcing adherence to company policies, and other duties as assigned. He or she is also responsible for managing warehouse forklift operators, overseeing their work both in the warehouse and on extra projects such as painting, facility upkeep and clean up. The Receiving Supervisor also handles dispatching of the straddle carrier fleet during non-peak periods.

Essential Functions

1. Schedule personnel to ensure adequate carrier coverage, coordinating the delivery of empty bins to orchards, coordinating the pickup and delivery of fruit back to warehouse, and communicate with forklift operations and Quality Control regarding storage designations.

2. Oversee the accurate, timely creation and maintenance of storage maps

3. Supervise truck drivers and receiving personnel to include interviewing, performance management, discipline, and terminations.

4. Verify and correct daily Time Tracker reports

5. Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers.

6. Identify employees’ skills and develop them by coaching and counseling employees on a regular basis.

7. Determine and assign miscellaneous jobs to crew during down time such as sweeping, clean up, painting, and other light maintenance duties as directed by Operations Manager

8. Maintain supplies for bin tags and picker tickets etc.,

9. Dispatching via C B radio and or mobile phone, addressing calls from the public concerning straddle carrier traffic and communicating with growers concerns about drivers or specific instructions for drivers.

Required Education and Experience

High School Graduate or GED.

1. Minimum of 3 years of directly related experience.

2. Supervisory/management experience.

3. Forklift experience

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees of the receiving department and forklift operators in the warehouse department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the department.

Work Environment

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently exposed to cold temperatures. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position is required to walk throughout the entire facility, including packing lines, cold storage rooms and shipping areas. This position is required to lift and move items weighing over 50 pounds.
