Washington State University is seeking to fill a position for a Lab/field Research Technician. This individual will work with the laboratory director, supervisor, and staff to aid in lab and field research activities, processing, reporting, laboratory organization and management.
Job Responsibilities:
The Intern actively participates in several laboratory and field functions, beginning with a review of the ordered tests at specimen receipt and extending beyond the laboratory.
Initiate, maintain, and test tissue cultures
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly equipment maintenance and quality control procedures.
Perform data entry tasks to include accessioning samples received/generating final report
Follow lab procedures for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results
Complete other tasks as needed, for laboratory operations
Support ongoing laboratory and field compliance
Uphold laboratory best practices
Promote a positive work environment while supporting management and business goals
Minimum Requirements:
Associates Degree in a life science or related disciplines
Possess a WA drivers’ license or be able to obtain one upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. in Sciences
Previous experience in research laboratory of tree fruit is preferred
Experience with Ag industry a plus
High level of attention to detail
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced laboratory
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort with learning new software programs. Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
Compensation and Work Schedule:
Part-time with potential for Full-time
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm
Competitive compensation commensurate to education and experience
