REPOSTED: Washington State University Wenatchee Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center in Wenatchee, WA is looking to hire a Scientific Assistant into Dr. Carolina Torres’ research program. This position will perform professional-level work in support of research focused on postharvest biology and technology in pome and stone fruit. The incumbent will perform a wide range of duties including field work and laboratory analysis; to include data collection, maintenance and care of laboratory equipment, coordinating equipment use, and protocol development. Field duties include: field data collection, fruit harvest, and management of experiments carried out on commercial packinghouse facilities. The incumbent will supervise the activities of hourly workers, and work with graduate students, other staff and scientists to achieve project goals. Position requirements include master’s degree in an appropriate science discipline and two (2) to three (3) years professional experience, laboratory experience, knowledge performing professional-level work with scientific research protocols, experimental and analytical skills, precision, reliability, understanding and knowledge of research theory, excellent organizational and project management skills, technical editing experience and advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
