Summary
The Desktop Support Intern will provide direct technical assistance and support to IT Manager for network, hardware and software support and issues. Duties include installing and maintaining computer systems including software and hardware on desktops and laptops, resolving internet and network access issues (both wired and wireless), providing network printer support, meeting with staff to provide one-on-one technical assistance as needed/requested, determining causes of computer/software/network malfunctions through evaluation and testing and resolution via modifications, repair, or external support assistance. This is a SUMMER appointment, based upon candidates availability.
Preferred
At least one year of academic work in information systems and/or computer science, working toward a certification or degree in the information technology field
Experience with networking technologies and printer support
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Respond and resolve technical support requests in a timely manner
Record activities, solutions and other responses within ticketing software
Provide on-site technical support for end users
Support PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software
With supervision perform minor repairs to equipment and arrange for other servicing needs
Perform other duties/projects as assigned
Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows
Familiarity with software installations as well as basic computer hardware components and configurations
A basic understanding of computer network cabling and network file and print services
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems
Ability to research and understand technical documentation, and an understanding of how to apply various technical resources
Good verbal and written communication skills
Requirements
High School degree or equivalent
Enrollment in an accredited college with emphasis on a computer related field
Interested in pursuing a career in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Work Authorization
Per ITAR requirements, an applicant must be a U.S. Person to be eligible for this position. U.S. Persons include individuals who are (1) citizens or nationals of the U.S., (2) lawful permanent residents, (3) admitted as refugees, or (4) are granted asylum in the United States.
Temporary Hourly Position, Full-time, Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
