CONTRACT RATE
The hourly rate for this position is $37.37 per hour

Water Tech Apprentice Trainee
Overview
This is an entry-level position performing water and wastewater systems operations, maintenance, repair and construction. Incumbents work under the supervision of a Water Technician Journeyman/Foreman, Treatment Plant Operator, other Journey-level personnel or Operations Manager/ Superintendent. Incumbent is intended to advance to an apprenticeship and will be required to meet program guidelines set forth by the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) and the Washington State Apprenticeship Council. This position will be expected to follow all District Safety Rules and Policies and maintain a meets expectations or higher rating on monthly peer evaluation reviews.
Responsibilities
-Safely and efficiently perform water distribution system operations, maintenance, repair and construction activities under supervision.
-Safely and efficiently perform wastewater collection and treatment system operations, maintenance and repair activities under supervision.
-Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC).
-As an essential function, drive a motorized vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the District.

Qualifications
Education
Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.
No post-secondary education required.
Experience
-1-year experience in general construction, repair, maintenance or related field required.
Licenses and Certifications
-Valid Driver's License at hire and WA Driver's License within 30 days of hire and
-Class A CDL License with air brake restriction removed and
-Must possess or obtain within six months of hire a Tanker endorsement within 180 days
Skills and Abilities
A fully skilled incumbent will have the following knowledge skills & abilities:
-Ability and desire to train through the apprenticeship program to become a Water Technician Journeyman.
-Ability and desire to work outdoors year-around and in proximity to heavy construction equipment.
-Ability to Learn the use of personal and/or laptop computers, tablets, measuring, locating and scanning tools/equipment.
-Good interpersonal skills and ability to get along with others.
-Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
-Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
-Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
-Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
-Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
-Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
-Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
A valid driver's license is required for this position (verified upon hire). A valid Washington State driver's license is required within 30 days of employment.
