GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Compliance Assistant supports the Compliance team in ensuring the financial institution adheres to all applicable regulations, policies, and laws. This role assists with monitoring compliance activities, maintaining accurate records, and supporting adherence to regulatory standards such as the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Truth in Savings Act (TISA), HMDA, and other consumer compliance regulations. The Compliance Assistant also provides administrative support, conducts basic research, and helps maintain compliance documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assist the Compliance Officer in maintaining and supporting the overall compliance program.
Stay current on regulatory issues as they relate to assigned duties.
Conduct basic compliance research using online and regulatory resources.
Assist with monitoring adherence to consumer compliance laws and regulations (e.g., TILA, TISA, Fair Lending).
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly monitoring activities and reviews, including:
o Reg. CC Check Holds
o HPML interest rate reviews
o Other monitoring activities as assigned by the Compliance Officer
o Monitor branch loan and deposit activities, including reviewing funded loans for regulatory compliance.
o Assist with monthly HMDA data scrubs.
o Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, policies, and procedures.
o Assist with policy and procedure revisions and conduct annual policy reviews as assigned.
o Support coordination of compliance training sessions, including maintaining attendance records.
o Help gather data and documentation required for internal audits and regulatory examinations.
o Assign appraisals for loan staff.
o Provide additional support to the Compliance Officer as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Associates degree in business, or 2–3 years banking experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Basic knowledge of financial regulatory compliance (e.g., TILA, TISA, HMDA) preferred.
Ability to research compliance questions using online and regulatory resources.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Strong multitasking skills with accuracy and efficiency.
Professional communication skills with the ability to interact courteously and effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong typing and computer skills required.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new compliance tools, software, and processes.

Salary range for the Compliance Assistant is $46,000-$55,000 yearly. “Other Compensation” includes a Semi-Annual Incentive Program payout and employer funded Defined Pension Plan in addition to an employee’s base salary.
