There is one opening with the Yakima County District Court in the Grandview, WA location.
This position is responsible for specialized in-court office support activities involving courtroom processes, client services and case management relating to financial obligations owed to District Court and Probation Services, office support duties such as preparation and distribution of bench warrants, scheduling of Distrct Court infraction hearings, preparation and distribution of legal documents, data entry into DISCUS, scanning and indexing, and responding to or routing telephone inquiries and records maintenance. Typing Test Requirement: This position requires a typing test with a minimum of 35 net wpm, to be taken in the Yakima County Human Resources Department, 128 N. 2nd Street, Room B27. Tests are administered on a first-come, first-serve basis and must be completed by 3:30 pm on the closing date of the posting.
Essential Job Functions
â¢Creates accounts receivable & time payment arrangement records; monitors, posts & disburses bail/bonds; monitors bench warrant & âFailure to Appearâ status in order to maintain accurate Dept of Licensing records
â¢Receives and receipts payments in person, by phone, and by mail. Reviews Accounts Receivable documents and creates/adjusts for financial accuracy or adjustments.
â¢Conducts financial interviews with court clients & establishes financial payment schedules with client, applying knowledge of State/Local Court Rules, Court/Probation procedures and policies.
â¢Issues Department of Licensing (DOL) Failure to Appear (FTA) notices; identifies FTA issues on traffic infractions and coordinates activities with other agencies involved; removes FTA when appropriate by contacting the Department of Licensing.
â¢Monitors Court financial accounts & determines eligibility for collection action according to established procedures. Processes collection-eligible accounts.
â¢Prepares court & other legal documents for entry into court case files & statewide database (DISCIS). Summarizes & records written judicial orders for entry to case files, DISCIS & JIS databases; maintains accurate criminal history records for defendants; responds to telephone, mail or in-person inquiries regarding hearing schedules, court rules, records and office procedures.
â¢Prepares & maintains daily written & audio record of all court proceedings. Prepares daily/weekly court calendars.
â¢Indexes & secures trial exhibits (drugs, weapons, blood-borne pathogen materials & money); maintains chain of custody; applies policies & procedures in disposition of evidence.
â¢Reviews, recalls and updates warrants in computer system. Prepares civil case filing information, enters data into DISCIS system, and prepares judgment transcript for clients.
â¢Disseminates information & ensures confidentiality regarding ongoing case information. Coordinates communications between Judge, attorneys, staff, and maintains integrity of jurors. Monitors courtroom events to identify potential security risks, breach of protocols, or special need situations. Maintain files and helps with record retention and filing of records.
â¢Performs other duties as required
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and three years of clerical and/or financial training/experience beyond high school, including 6 months in area of specialty OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
â¢Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.
â¢Successful completion of a keyboarding test (typing speed/accuracy) with a minimum of 35 net words per mintue.
â¢Bilingual in English and Spanish
â¢Experience in Collections, Legal Office and/or Government Accounting

This is a Yakima County Courthouse AFSCME 87 Master Contract Bargaining Unit position. As a condition of employment, you are required to become a member of the Unit or pay representation fees per the negotiated contract.
