We are looking for an RN to join the Labor & Delivery team at Yakima Valley Memorial! The first baby was delivered at Memorial in 1950. Since then Memorial has developed one of the most comprehensive maternity care programs in Washington and is one of four WA State perinatal centers. Averaging over 200 births each month, our L&D team has the opportunity to use their nursing skills in a variety of settings, including LDRP, perioperative and post-anesthesia care, as well as an obstetrical emergency department. RNs in Labor & Delivery at Yakima Valley Memorial enjoy support from a 24-hour Lift Team, 24-hour Respiratory Team, Pharmacy (24-hour med mixing), Social Workers and Chaplains. All staff members at Yakima Valley Memorial must be in compliance with our Vaccination Policy, which includes the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine, by their first day of employment. ROLE SUMMARY The RN completes individualized patient assessments; develops a care plan based on assessment/history findings; delivers patient-centered care that is culturally appropriate; evaluates a patient’s response to care and revises as needed. The RN is accountable to deliver care as well as to oversee and delegate to other personnel (clinical & non-clinical) in delivering/supporting the delivery of care. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Manage all aspects/phases of labor and the immediate postpartum period including pain management, Pitocin drip/titration, magnesium sulfate drips, heparin drips and insulin drips. 2. Circulate for OB surgeries. 3. Function in the PACU RN role for OB patients. 4. Function proficiently in the OB triage role. Triage OB patients 20-40+ wks for: labor assessment, address medical conditions, assist with versions and amniocentesis, trauma, NST’s, CST’s, etc. 5. Stabilize and monitor antepartum patients 6. Responsible for immediate care of newborn post-delivery. 7. Provide breastfeeding support to patients.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education: Associate’s degree in nursing required; BSN preferred. Completion of advanced EFM course required every two (2) years. Experience: Previous acute care nursing experience preferred. Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Registered Nurse licensure required. American Heart Association BLS required until ACLS and/or ALSO is obtained. ACLS and/or ALSO and NRP required within one year of hire.
