We’re looking for an In-Home Personal Assistant/Health Caregiver

As part of the team, this part-time Personal Assistant/Caregiver will meet and maintain minimum standards of cleanliness, appearance, and safety of the elder resident, including maintaining cleanliness and proper hygiene, trash & debris removal, emergency clean-up, and other duties to ensure that the elder is comfortable, safe and feels cared for and experiences a high-quality living experience. Keeping a high level of organization of her immediate environment is a top priority. During the spring and summer months the duties include the care, watering, planting and organization of the outdoor living areas on the deck, including the vegetable garden.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Providing basic homecare care for an elderly woman who is ambulatory, at times assisting her when going out for errands (2-3 times a week), hair appointments, medication, Dr. appointments and home & pet supplies shopping and other tasks within Yakima.

Keeps resident rooms and personal property highly organized and in a neat an orderly manner while honoring resident preferences.

Launders and organizes clothing, changing bedding daily, cleaning and caring for her pets.

Prepares, assists with meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner when needed.

Provides companionship when needed, and a sense that someone is there in case of an emergency.

Creates an environment, along with the home team, where resident has ongoing opportunities to participate in individualized and purposeful activities, resembling her previous home environment, lifestyle, and customary daily routine.

Provides aid in medication management, use of hearing aids, glasses, walkers.

If needed, assists resident with daily living activities such as dressing, dining, hygiene, bathing, changing soiled cloths and bedding.

If needed, aids in weekly vitals and notation (Blood Pressure, Weight, Temperature and Oxygen saturation)

If needed, provides the delivery of nursing and nursing-related activities for resident within established guidelines and in accordance with federal and state regulations, aware of the full continuum of care from independent living to assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care

Physical Ability and Skills:

Work 24 to 32 hours a week, 6-8 hours per day, 30-minute paid lunch break, 4 days a week, Sunday thru Wednesday or Wednesday thru Saturday, at least 1 weekend day per week, in all kinds of weather conditions

Understand instructions and safety rules in English

Ability to perform all required tasks

Qualifications:

Highly organized, strong attention to detail and able to work to meet high standard of organization and appearance

Ability to maintain a caregiving schedule

Regular, predictable and dependable attendance

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Unencumbered Washington Nursing Assistant, Certified license is preferred

Obtain relevant training, including CNA certification if necessary, first aid certification, CPR certification AED and HIV/AIDS training.

Ability to pass background check, credit check, and drug screening
