The Cold Weather Shelter Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the Cold Weather Shelter (CWS) under the guidance of the Program Manager. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for individuals experiencing homelessness, promoting a non-judgmental and compassionate service.
Key Responsibilities:
Foster a welcoming atmosphere by engaging with clients in a respectful and compassionate manner.
Act as a liaison between clients and community resources to provide comprehensive support.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of best practices within the shelter.
Serve as the first point of contact for clients, providing support and information as needed.
Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers, ensuring they are well-informed and equipped to fulfill their roles effectively.
Resolve operational issues, uphold policies and procedures, and implement new procedures as directed to ensure smooth and efficient shelter operations.
Ensures client-centric work by implementing client service standards and work with the Manager to make exceptions where appropriate.
Maintain accurate documentation and records related to shelter operations and client services and enter necessary data into the client management database.
Monitor center activities, including coordination with overnight security who will monitor the shelter from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am
Work CWS at least 4 shifts per week to have an active role and presence at the shelter.
Receive initial after-hours calls related to emergent matters; address the issue or request guidance/determine if the Manager is to be notified.
Model and assist staff in proactive guest interactions/engagement using CASTLE principles.
Purchase supplies and maintain inventory to ensure the shelter is well-equipped to meet client needs.
Meet with the Manager to discuss guests who are facing significant continued rule violations and are at risk for nights out or trespass based on established shelter guidelines.
Meets with trespassed guests and reviews rules and expectations prior to re-entry into CWS.
Ensure the shelter is always maintained in a clean and safe condition.
Work Environment:
Shifts are scheduled from 6 AM to 10 AM and 6 PM to 10 PM.
Flexible hours to accommodate shelter needs outside of normal working hours.

A genuine passion for supporting people and addressing their needs.
Acceptable Criminal History Report
Reliable and punctual
Maintain a high degree of confidentiality relative to work performed
Effective communication skills and a professional attitude
Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and manage multiple priorities on deadlines
