Are you a diesel mechanic looking for a new work environment? The City of Yakima's Equipment Rental division is well managed with a great team of mechanics dedicated to keeping city vehicles and equipment safe and on the road!

This position is scheduled to work Monday - Friday 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM.

JOB SUMMARY:

The mechanic performs various repair and maintenance work on equipment including but not limited to; gas and diesel powered automobiles, medium and heavy trucks, buses, refuse trucks, heavy construction, grounds maintenance and other equipment. Repairs related systems such as pumps, transmissions, carburetors, hydraulics, brakes, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school diploma and two (2) years' experience performing automotive repair including the maintenance of both diesel and gas powered vehicles and/or heavy equipment. Completion of an apprenticeship or trade/technical school program in automotive and/or diesel equipment repair may substitute up to eighteen (18) months required work experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR CERTIFICATES:

Must possess and maintain a valid WA driver license. Must possess/obtain and maintain a Basic First Aid, including CPR and AED, a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement, and a Forklift Operators certification within six (6) months of employment. Certifications by the Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Medium-Heavy Truck series are preferred.
