Job Summary:

This position plays a key role in providing leadership to drivers through communicating coordinating and dispatching the activities of transportation operations through optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel, including assigning motor vehicles and conveyance of freight by performing the following duties.

Monday thru Friday

Essential Duties of the Job:

Work alongside the Planner to communicate the daily activities of professional drivers related to dispatching, routing, and tracking trucks and trailers

Maintain load status information timely and accurately; communicating with customers and brokers as needed

Responsible for maximizing equipment and asset utilization

Ensures fair and consistent application of and adherence to company policies

Search load boards and work with brokers for backhaul freight

Ensure driver success through relationship building and effective communication

Assist and coach drivers on time management issues, including Hours of Service management, off-duty time to ensure drivers are resting properly, review & audit driver logs for compliance with current regulations.

Encourage and promote safe working activities and enforce safety policies and procedures with the assistance of the Compliance Supervisor

Serve as contact person for all truck drivers in relation to their day-to-day operation including, load information, time off, hours of service, maintenance concerns, etc.

Issue Comchecks and assist in payment of on-the-road repairs

Process the initial injury, incident, and accident reports

Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA rules & regulations relating to professional Class A CDL Drivers

o Monitor, review and identify problem areas in Drivers Daily Logs/E-Logs

Job Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.

Education & Experience

o At least 1 year of experience in the transportation industry required

Communication Skills

o Ability to read & interpret documents such safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals.

o Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present data before groups of employees.

o Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

o Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

o Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

o Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Computer Skills

o Knowledgeable in the use of computers, including the ability to enter information into Microsoft Excel, use Microsoft Word, and other programs as required.

Reasoning Ability

o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
