The position of SMT Process Engineer is responsible for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of all related manufacturing equipment & Processes required to manufacture a high-quality product in a repeatable and cost effective manner.  As such the successful candidate must have a background and experience in SMT and Through-Hole PCBA manufacturing processes, programming and support of automated placement systems, and solder reflow processes. In addition, this person will:Determine capital equipment for the SMT area and assists in the budget process for equipment, training, software, and equipment installation projects.  Must be able to write ROI justifications to support equipment purchases.Ensure SMT production equipment is capable and has capacity for growth.   This will involve integrating equipment, people, material flow systems, and information systems.Develop and implement SMT processes that will optimize setups and programs to improve equipment efficiencies and output.Drives continuous improvement in labor costs through waste reduction, production efficiency, and operations improvements.Troubleshoot production problems involving the SMT equipment, materials, process, and workmanship.Provide ownership for SMT production yields – define expectations, drive yield improvements, implement corrective actions, and deliver status reports.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematicsPrepare yearly budget items for department on equipment repairs and improvements to meet production needsCreate a comprehensive SMT manufacturing plan for all new NPD projects.Ensure all NPD projects are reviewed for compliance to DFM and DFT guidelines.Oversee all equipment modifications, upgrades, and maintenance of all SMT equipment.Engage and lead teams to resolve efficiency issues, quality issues, and production issues.As PCBA’s transfer from internal manufacturing to our Contract Manufacturing Partners provide support to assure a smooth transition of all aspects of the manufacturing process.Communicate project status and escalation to leadership as needed.Conduct project meetings and be responsible for project tracking and analysis.Assess, manage, and mitigate project risks.Ensure adherence to quality standards and review project deliverables. Recommend and act to direct the analysis and solutions of problems.
