Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Tax Manager in the Public sector. Based in Brookfield, Wisconsin, this role will be instrumental in applying accounting principles and procedures to prepare accurate financial reports for clients, as well as preparing tax returns and conducting tax planning and research. The Tax Manager will also play a key role in responding to client queries and concerns.Responsibilities: Accurately prepare federal, state, and local tax returns and extensions for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts. Assist clients in understanding their financial statements and other financial transactions. Prepare periodic balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports for clients from various industries. Manage payroll procedures including payroll returns and tax deposits. Record fixed assets, schedule depreciation, book accruals, and other closing entries. Set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the books. Review tax information supplied by clients and request open items, as needed. Conduct tax research and provide insights on proposed tax positions and transactions. Train, coach, and mentor less-experienced staff. Recommend updates to enhance the accounting and tax processes. Ensure the confidentiality of each client by adhering to all company procedures regarding information handling. Requirements Must hold a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Tax Manager in a public setting Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required Demonstrated knowledge of Accounting Functions is necessary Experience with Creative Solutions - UltraTax is preferred Familiarity with Ultratax CS is a plus Proven experience in Tax Preparation is necessary Strong knowledge of Tax Planning Strategies is required Previous experience as a Tax Preparer is beneficial Understanding of Bookkeeping and Full Charge Bookkeeping is required Proficiency in QuickBooks is a must Experience in Financial Statement and Financial Statement Preparation is necessary.
