Five Star Plastics is looking for a RTV Tool Maker!

Summary:

Analyze parts and geometry to effectively and efficiently lay up all parts for silicone tool. Finish and/or paint RP parts to get them to a level of consistent quality standard with established benchmarks. Work with others to positively solve any challenges that are discovered. Train new employees on RTV tooling, cast models and finishing techniques.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Analyze parts and geometry to effectively and efficiently lay up all parts with accurate parting lines for silicone tools

Pour Silicone and create the RTV tool including vents, gates, locking features, pins, pickouts and any other necessary items to create a functional tool

Cast accurate parts and troubleshoot molds to ensure all areas fill to achieve quality and accurate cast models

Be able to mix all casting materials to ensure a consistent mix every time. (Meet supplier specs.) Be able to get good consistent parts. If your models are different than someone else's, work with them to find out what they are doing. There should be no variation between associates. Ask for help or ideas.

Troubleshoot, repair and communicate areas of concern regarding SLA models

Understand the differences between the available casting materials. This is very vague in appearance, but the bulk of it is knowledge of what we typically use and why we would choose a specific material for a job. Examples: clear or natural, slow or fast, soft or hard.

Trim parts to make identical to MasterTrim flash, vents, sprues, and gates so that it looks as if they were never there. Be able to determine if a part is good bad or repairable. Determine whether or not the part can be repaired cost effective, quality conscience manner. Ask if unsure.

Visually and dimensionally inspect parts before shipping to ensure that quality is repeatable.

Understand timelines of projects and do whatever possible to achieve them . Work with Shop Coordinator or Project lead to determine the direction of the project, and see if we need to put any additional resources on it. Flexibility. Work with others and utilize resources to accomplish tasks.

Complete time tracking requirements and goals are met

Understand different levels of finish and how to achieve them.

Utilize sandpaper, files and miscellaneous hand and power tools to aid in the process.

Have the ability to mix materials (urethanes, silicone, and paint) by volume and weight and be able to select the best material for the application.

Understand quality expectations. If there is an issue, work together with who ever necessary to rectify the situation. Make sure that the Project Lead is notified, to let the customer know if delivery is in jeopardy.

Rotate weekend support of equipment up time

Communicate ways to help minimize waste (time and material).

Provide weekend support when necessary to maximize production.

Keep area clean as spelled out in "Housekeeping Expectations - RP".

Work with RP area and Quality Group to ensure consistently accurate parts.

Communicate positively in all discussions.

Quality parts on timeWork as a team

Any other duties as required by manager.

Maintain Quality Management System compliance.

Qualification Requirements:

Education: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the hiring manager.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
