The NMC Policy Loans Engineering team at Northwestern Mutual is responsible for transforming the loan experience by shifting loan initiation and processing for all risk products to NMC Policy Loans; an intuitive modern application that uses reflexive questioning. This transformation will make the loans process and experience more seamless and enjoyable for policy holders, home office and field users. You'll be part of a team that plays a crucial role in ensuring this phenomenal company continues to do great things for its customers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Applies engineering best practices in order to analyze and develop software solutions.
  • Apply sound software engineering processes, including iterative development, unit testing, source code control, peer review and documentations.
  • Demonstrate technical ability to develop, build, and implement software changes that meet business needs.
  • Apply established monitoring and automation processes.
  • Work with other specialists on a collaborative Agile team to deliver code on an ongoing basis.
  • Participates in setting team standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to testing needs and testing automation frameworks.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years professional IT experience required
  • Strong understanding in core programming skills and specific technical requirements/platforms (JavaScript, NodeJS, React)
  • Familiarity using continuous integration and deployment concepts
  • Familiarity with public cloud and associated technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, DynamoDB, Azure, Containerization)
  • A continuous learning approach
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to learn varied technologies.
  • Experience with engineering best practices to include analyzing, designing, developing, deploying, and supporting software solutions and/or infrastructure implementations/upgrades.
  • Bring your new insights to improve our software solutions!


Additional Skills:
  • Knowledge of HTML5 and CSS frameworks.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and Git.
  • Strong communication skills, with willingness to work/interact with product owners and business clients.
  • Willingness to work with NM engineers on other interfacing teams to tackle problems or meet a requirement.
