REPORTS TO: VP of EngineeringSUMMARY:Under the direction of the VP of Engineering, the Chief Cost Estimator will serve as the liaison between Sales, Engineering, & Contract Review. They will prepare cost estimates and price quoting for product applications required by customers. QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required
10 years fabrication/manufacturing experience to include sheet metal processes, welding processes, and powder coat application
Understands costing, margin requirements, and volume pricing
Must be able to read and understand blueprints, weld symbols, and bill of materials
Ability to recognize tool and fixture requirements and estimates accordingly
Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares cost estimates for sheet metal parts and weldments for new and existing customers
Determine investment returns and calculations on capital investments
Maintains all quote documentation with accurate pricing, configurations and history
Interacts with Sales team to balance quote load and priority
Analyzes various pricing scenarios/checks margins
Organizes all sales inputs to ensure file availability for ECN construction
Responsible for re-pricing existing product as the metal market fluctuates
Provide justifications and investigations of processes, machinery, production streets, burden rate formulations
Perform other related duties as assigned
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provide accurate quotes on a timely basis (24 – 48 hours for tank quotes).
Successful purchase orders
Ensure efficient and effective quoting process for the company
