Receive customer trouble and service tickets or calls.Monitors the gas systems. Calls employees for emergency work or notification purposes. Coordinates field response, documents and updates systems and reports. Monitors the overall electric distribution grid and is responsible for documenting switching activities.The Distribution Center Dispatcher provides operations support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position will be for our second shift with typical hours ranging from 3 PM - 11 PM. On-call and weekend coverage is needed. Hours may also vary depending on business need.This position is responsible for taking after-hours emergency calls, responding to outages and trouble calls on the distribution system and customer services. Due to this the position has a residency requirement of 30 minutes from appointed operating center.What you will do
Receives and executes orders from the Transmission System Operations, GENCO System Operation Center or other authorized personnel and dispatches employees as described in the Electric Emergency Manual.
Responds to emergencies in accordance with company policies and procedures to minimize customer impact (SAIFI, SAIDI, etc.), taking all necessary actions to maintain system integrity by: sectionalizing, monitoring system conditions, or other appropriate action.
Uses distribution system tools and applications to monitors gas and electric systems. Takes action, documents and reports as required.
May monitors the operation of substations and distribution facilities in the company's electrical power system using SCADA in order to insure adequate transmission of electricity.
Initiates emergency call tree action and routes information to appropriate departments and personnel (i.e. Field Operations Leadership, Corporate Communications, Key Account Manager, etc.).
Notifies proper personnel and dispatches company technicians on electric and gas trouble, and
service calls.
Receives and dispatches all emergency Digger's Hotline requests throughout the company.
Follows prescribed company policies and procedures.
Must be able to work in a highly stressful environment and to be able to deal with multiple tasks and situations simultaneously.
Responds to after hour emergencies as required.
Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.
Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Preferred Experience
2 years of experience in utility operations/construction
Other Requirements
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
This job is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug and alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 199), and is subject to drug testing according to said regulations.

Thorough knowledge of electric and gas systems and how they operate.
Ability to troubleshoot electric and gas problems by analyzing available information.
Demonstrated ability to perform and efficiently multi-task under adverse conditions and communicate effectively with employees and public agencies.
Thorough knowledge of company policies and procedures pertaining to switching, dispatching and emergency response.
A working knowledge of distribution system operations applications.
Strong communication skills including grammar, punctuation and telephone etiquette.
Demonstrated ability to perform accurate work in a time frame which meets department objectives.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work in a culturally diverse work group and to perform the physical requirements of the job.
Ability to successfully pass pre-employment screening assessments.
