Risk management in banking is theoretically defined as “the logical development and execution of a plan to deal with potential losses.” The focus of risk management practices in banking is to manage the institution’s exposure to losses or risk and to protect the value of its assets. As Altra’s assets continue to grow, our employee base needs to grow too! We are seeking to add an additional Risk Management Specialist to our Risk Management department! As a Risk Management Specialist at Altra, you will work with the Risk Management department to provide backup wherever needed, as well as perform effective quality control reviews and assist with risk management reviews associated with consumer loans, branch operations, and vendor due diligence.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Complete pre-funding quality control reviews of sample real estate loans in the pipeline.

Complete monthly post-closing quality control reviews for real estate and consumer loan production.

Complete discretionary loan reviews and monthly rejected FHA loan applications for compliance with fair lending regulations.

Assist with maintaining the vendor management system.

Assist with filing accurate and timely Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Report (SARs).

Assist with quarterly HMDA data reporting.

Assist with NCUA, internal, and external auditors

Maintain knowledge of regulations appropriate for the position (ex. Bank Secrecy Action, OFAC, etc.) and attend all trainings as it relates to job related regulations. To be considered for this position, you will be required to have High School diploma, GED or HSED and an Associate’s degree in a business-related field. A Bachelor’s degree would be preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of lending experience and mortgage lending experience is required. Strong understanding of credit union policies, secondary market, and private investor guidelines, NCUA rules and regulations, and other laws effecting mortgage lending is required.

Risk Management Specialist will display a professional image that promotes all of Altra’s Brand Principles and provides quality member service and staff support. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills are required. Maintains a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. A working knowledge of personal computers, and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook), automated underwriting systems, and mortgage lending software programs is desirable.

This position is full time, 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday and is located at the Operations Center in Onalaska, WI, however, telecommuting / work from home decisions will be considered for the hired applicant.

Required
