Olsten Staffing Services is assisting a local company with filling a Maintenance Assistant position. This is a full time, long term permanent position on 2nd shift in the Westby, WI area and excellent advancement opportunities!

The primary responsibilities will be to perform preventative maintenance and general maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment. This position is also responsible for assisting in the installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading of electronic and computer-controlled mechanical systems by combining knowledge of mechanical technology with the knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits. Employees in this position provide quality service and support to internal customers while focusing on safety, quality and productivity.

Responsibilities for the Maintenance Assistant position include:

Responds timely to employee requests for assistance or repair to equipment and provides training to employees to minimize production downtime and improve efficient operation of equipment.

Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure machines operate effectively and efficiently.

Completes daily work requests as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor.

Works closely with and follows directions from the Maintenance Team Leader and Electromechanical Technicians.

Assists in maintaining and repairing machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings/structures.

Assists in troubleshooting and repairing electrical circuits and switches and interpreting electrical schematics.

Assists in the inspection, diagnosing, and problems solving to correct problems, frequently reviewing blueprints, repair manuals and parts catalogs.

Assists Welder in performing cutting, painting, confined space attendant and other tasks as needed.

Assists in the assembly and set-up of machinery and equipment.

Completes documentation of repair work, daily journals, and other necessary reports.

Maintains organization and repair of maintenance shop, inventory room, and tools and equipment to ensure equipment and supplies are readily available and in working order.

Performs snow removal duties at all facilities.

Reports and/or corrects unsafe conditions or needed building/equipment repair to Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Technology and two or more years of experience with mechanical and electrical repair or a combination of education and experience is preferred.

Attention to detail, basic math skills, and having the ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs and GMPs is required.

Ability to work independently; manages ones own time, monitors individual performance, identifies problems and problems solves, using judgment in making decisions.

Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers and work in a team or independently with a positive attitude is required.

Work Hours:

2nd Shift “ 2:00pm to 10:00pm
