Holtz Builders is a leader in the workforce housing, hotel, and dormitory industry and we are seeking an experienced Project Estimator to join our team in Lake Delton, WI.
Job Duties:
Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid/project as assigned
Assist in preparation of bid schedules of projects being estimated
Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work
Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates
Review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost
Work with project assistants, project managers, owners, and subcontractors to get consensus regarding proposed bids.
Obtain knowledge of the project and appropriate regulations required to construct the project.
Review the list of work to be performed by subcontractors
Review the final estimate and apply strategic cost factors if necessary
Partner with Project Assistants to turn a project over to Project Management team
Advise on major changes in scope of work
Maintain files on working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current/accurate information regarding prices from suppliers and subcontractors
Search and analyze options for most effective means and methods of construction
Understand the best value approach for winning new work
Prepare bids, select vendors and/or sub-contractors, and determine the cost-effectiveness of projects to be bid
Maintain knowledge of HBI company values and strategic plan
Support published corporate policies
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
5 years of experience estimating commercial projects
Competent in Microsoft Word & Excel
Ability to read and transcribe project plans and specifications
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Experience with Microsoft and Foundations Software a plus
Education and Experience Requirements:
Required minimum education of High School Diploma
Degree or Diploma in Construction Project Management is encouraged
Proven and successful working experience in project management
