Pet/house sitter wanted, overnights, Oct 6-13

My husband & I are looking for an experienced FEMALE house-sitter for our 2 dogs, from Oct 6-Oct 13, 2024. One of our dogs does not adjust well to men and we want to hire a woman. Our 1-family house has a doggie door that opens into the (fenced) backyard.

We'd like a sitter willing to join me for 1-2 walks with the dogs before we leave.

Dolly

We adopted Dolly, now age 6 and 70 lbs, from a rescue in 2021. We have done some obedience training with her, but she is stubborn! Initially wary of strangers (esp men), she needs a little time to be comfortable. She gets aggressive with other dogs (except our other dog Pete).

Dolly looks like a chocolate Lab, but that's only 11% of her DNA. Her personality & temperament reflect more of her German Shepherd / Doberman /Rottweiler DNA. She is an excellent watchdog!

Dolly’s only troubling behavior is that she has separation anxiety, and on several occasions she has either jumped over or forcibly opened the doggie gate between the entry-level and the main level of the house. We tried to block the gate, but she will jump over or work around any barrier to get downstairs. She can’t go anywhere from there, because there is a door between her and the garage, but apparently feels she has to try most of the time when we are both out for a few hours.

Pete

We adopted Pete, now 3 yrs and 95 lbs, in 2021. He is exuberant, outgoing who loves everyone and other dogs. We have been thru some obedience training with Pete, and he is fairly well-behaved on leash (until he gets excited!). Usually very happy-go-lucky guy; he gets skittish during thunderstorms.

Pete has the personality of a Golden Retriever, the relative size of a Great Pyrenees and the coloring of an Australian cattle dog. He adores his alpha sister Dolly, and is trying to teach her to enjoy some of her lost puppyhood!

We will pay $50/day.

What’s most important to us:

Are you comfortable handling 2 strong dogs? They both have prong collars or Dolly wears a gentle leader.

Can you commit to being at our house every night (minimum, 6 pm – 8 am)? Of course the more time you can be with Dolly & Pete, the better, but we feed them at around 8 am & 6 pm.

They need a walk every day –except for Pete when he goes to doggie daycare 1 day/wk.

Pete is friendly with everyone, but Dolly is wary of strangers, esp. men, and needs a gradual introduction on her own terms. She is probably OK with children ≥ age 8, but supervision is needed.

We would not want either dog to be outside of our fenced yard off-leash. We don’t take them to dog parks. Dolly is aggressive with other dogs and Pete goes to doggie daycare instead.

Please respond ASAP!

(note: We will not respond to any sitter from "Care" or "Rover" websites; we will only hire a sitter directly, not through a business.)
