USDA Coordinator

Description Summary:The USDA Coordinator is responsible for building Huntington Bank’s brand in the USDA OneRD Guaranteed lending space through bringing their subject matter expertise to networking and COI cultivation opportunities as well as providing sales support to appropriately structure loans and work to resolve loan pipeline issues with the USDA state and national agencies to accelerate the team’s USDA loan production.Duties & Responsibilities:Networking and business development:

Be a visible and active representative of Huntington Bank as a leading participant in the USDA loan programs, elevating our brand as a USDA lender of choice.

Attend trade events with National Rural Lenders Association, Rural Lenders Roundtable and other events.

Attend trade events for key sectors and project / vendor types to cultivate new COIs for the bank (i.e. sustainable energy equipment / project suppliers, engineering firms) to highlight Huntington Bank’s USDA capabilities as a funding solution.

Drive referrals from out-of-footprint, new COIs to the BDO team

Lender/Origination Support:

Serve as a resource for the Sales Team in eligibility reviews and deal structuring.

Participate in sales and customers calls as needed.

Work with the Sales Team early on with identification and understanding of all application items required.

Attend deal screen and credit committee meetings.

Provide a final, thorough review of project files prior to Credit Committee submission.

Review incoming application documentation as needed - i.e., Appraisals, Feasibility Studies, Environmental Documents, Lease Agreements, etc.

Support onboarding of key 3rd party providers (feasibility etc.)

Assist the Sales Team with ordering appropriate 3rd party documents as needed

General USDA Program Coordination:

Develop and maintain a deep understanding of each loan program's eligibility criteria, terms, process, and documentation requirements.

Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and maintain loan programs that meet Huntington Bank’s strategic objectives.

Collaborate with and empower credit, sales, and other internal teams to ensure smooth, streamlined end-to-end processing of USDA loan applications.

Propose and implement process improvements that enhance the customer experience and reduce turnaround times.

Support USDA training needs of USDA Sales Team and the USDA credit team, and other internal bank teams as needed.

Packaging Review / Agency approval:

Partner with BDOs to complete all government related forms for customer and bank's review and signature.

Develop clean and concise Preliminary Eligibility Review (PER) packages and application packages for Agency submission.

Lead the accountability of informational and documentation loan application requests from the Agency throughout the review period, submitting additional or revised packages as needed.

Consistently communicate with Agencies regarding progress and timeframes of review and approval to facilitate the loan pipeline

Work with the BDO/Closing/Legal Counsel (as applicable) early on with identification and understanding of all closing items required that come from the Agency with their approval to facilitate the loan pipeline.

Monitor Conditional Commitment timeframes and support BDOs to submit extension requests.

Secondary areas of responsibility:Underwriting Support:

Serve as a resource for the Underwriting Team throughout development of the Credit Memos for the Agency.

Work with the Underwriting team early on to communicate key eligibility items and discussion points to include in Credit Memos.

Provide a final, thorough review of all credit memos prior to Agency submission to prevent delays in the loan pipeline.

Secondary Market Placement (as applicable):

Support partners to market the loan for sale on the secondary market as applicable.

Agency Post Closing Follow up:

Post-closing, support the Loan Closers to develop clean and concise closing packages for Agency submission and request for the Loan Note Guarantee.

Support Loan Closing to consistently communicate with Agency regarding progress and timeframes of review and issuance of the Loan Note Guarantee.

Monitor Conditional Commitment timeframes and submit extension requests.

Servicing:

Provide a small level of oversight on progress of servicing efforts, particularly around reporting deadlines. Raise awareness of noncompliant or lingering servicing issues to maintain compliance and good standing with Agencies.

Submit construction monitoring reports to appropriate USDA state staff.

Performs other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

7+ years of combined Business Banking or Government Guaranteed Lending operations/Government Guaranteed Sales support and/or government agency experience (USDA or SBA).

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics.

USDA loan program experience

Excellent verbal (face-to-face and phone) and written communications skills are required to effectively provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.

Good interpersonal skills and the ability/desire to work in a fast-paced production environment are critical to be successful in this role.

Microsoft Office

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task
