SALARY: $24-$26/hour DOE.
SCHEDULE:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:45 am-1:30 pm
Tuesday and Thursday 8:45 am-11:45 am.
ABOUT ME:
I am an easy to get along with (most of the time) 69-year-old woman who became quadriplegic 10 years ago. I am mostly paralyzed from the neck down. My brain continues to refuse to accept that I can no longer engage in my pre-injury activities. Luckily, I am happy to do anything involving movement, including strengthening and stretching, going for walks (jogging with a friend by keeping my chair at their pace). I thrive on humor and laughing. I hope you do too!
ABOUT YOU:
You are physically healthy and strong. Upper body strength is especially important. You must have personal reliable transportation and of course, a valid driver's license and insurance. Motivation to continue to learn and to grow personally is important to you. You like to make sure your work is done well, and you enjoy it. You seek stability in your employment and are willing to commit to about a year. You enjoy finding humor in your work and achievements.
You probably already have most of the skills you will need; however, anything you still need to be taught, we will teach you.
ROUTINE:
My caregiver comes to help me get the morning started and gives me breakfast. Then we begin the toileting procedure. We do this by working on procedures to prevent incontinence and constipation, in order to stabilize the process and allow me to have a greater quality of life.
Once this is complete, I am set up in bed with my rolling lap desk and I begin my day.
