Tomato Mountain is a certified organic farm located 20 miles south of Madison. We grow under cover in 22 hoop houses (totaling just over an acre), and also raise 2-3 acres/yeař of outdoor crops.
We're hiring a manager to oversee and assist in vegetable production responsibilities from seed sowing through harvest, and beyond to record keeping and administration. The job is somewhat flexible but is about 2 parts physical and 1 part administrative/computer based.
We do not require someone with particular experience. A healthy, non smoking person with a good work ethic, modest computer skills, an interest in local food production, and good record keeping, planning, and management skills, would be great. Someone with a background in vegetable production or bookkeeping might start at a higher wage. We are happy to teach and train the right person and look forward to working with whoever takes over farm production oversight. We'll work together, along with our CSA team in Chicago, to plan and execute about $700,000 of vegetable production annually.
