Frostwood Farms/St. Isidore’s Garden Youth Coordinator
Overview of Responsibilities:
This position works with Frostwood Farms and St. Isadore’s Garden Youth Program Director to ensure smooth functioning of St. Isadore’s Garden summer program and supports our work with 18-24-year-olds. The Youth Coordinator is a full-time position and involves assisting in all aspects of garden life, including staffing, planning, purchasing plants, supervising gardeners and gardening through the growing season. In addition to the summer garden program, this position supports our Driver’s Education Pilot program and will help support 18–24-year-olds in job training.
This position will report to the Frostwood Farms Youth Program Director and work closely with them to plan and implement all youth programming.
Responsibilities:
1. Help develop youth programming, including strategic planning, record keeping and evaluation.
2. Assist the Garden team in planning, purchasing, and planting St. Isidore's Garden. In addition, work with Team regarding equipment purchases and maintenance.
3. Assist in the hiring of up to 4 garden supervisors and 22 youth. This will include being part of the interviews and selection process for both, including the pertinent paperwork necessary to coordinate payroll with RMC.
4. Be the lead supervisor with the gardeners.
5. Responsible for helping to maintain Frostwood Farms standards and imparting these standards to the supervisors and gardeners.
a. Help ensure the supervisors and gardeners are fully trained in all garden operations.
b. Maintain garden standards of properly tending to the garden.
6. Help to plan, implement, evaluate, and support the driver's education pilot program.
7. Assist in building/maintaining relationships with schools and other youth serving organizations to promote Frostwood Farms/St. Isadore's Garden programming.
8. Provide support for wrap around services for youth involved in programming.
9. Model work ethic, team decision making, leadership skills and conflict resolution skills to the staff team and youth.
10. Provide admin support and research and development for services provided for the 18-24 age group.
Compensation:
Starting pay between $20-$30/hr, based on experience.
