Summer Camp Counselor in Training (CIT)
32.5 hours a week, Seasonal
At Heartland Farm Sanctuary, our mission is to inspire compassion for all beings. We provide
specialized care to rescued farm animals, offer inclusive humane education programs for learners
of all ages, and provide experiential therapy to ensure the Heartland community is accessible for
everyone. Our sanctuary is a safe, welcoming space where people and farm animals come together
to experience growth, healing and connection.
How You Will Make a Difference:
As a Camp Counselor in Training at Heartland Farm Sanctuary, you will play an important role in
creating a more compassionate and caring society by encouraging kindness and respect for people,
animals and the environment. Through teaching children how we provide sanctuary, enrichment
and high-quality care to our rescued residents, campers also develop skills to be compassionate
members of their own communities.
The Camp Counselor in Training will be responsible for:
● Working with other camp staff members to plan, support and coordinate camp activities.
● Supporting campers as they participate in age appropriate activities.
● Engaging with families in a welcoming and professional manner.
● Monitoring campers to ensure compliance with camp safety guidelines.
● Cleaning and maintaining camp facilities and equipment.
● Assisting with camp set up and tear down.
● Working closely with lead counselors to ensure days run smoothly.
● Active listening, following instructions, and pitching in whenever possible
Who we are looking for:
Desirable Skills and Qualifications for the Camp Counselor in Training are:
● Minimum age 16 years old.
● Experience working with children.
● Experience working with animals
● A passion for animals, children and the environment.
● A commitment to the mission and values of Heartland Farm Sanctuary.
● Experience volunteering or participating in our animal care or humane education
programs (preferred).
● A willingness to work with farm animals and people of all ages.
● Reliable transportation to the sanctuary in Stoughton.
● A willingness to be outdoors - rain or shine!

Additional Details
Hours: 9:00-3:30 (6.5 hours a day) Monday - Friday; June 10- August 23
Compensation: $10/hour, 32.5 hours a week
Work Environment: Heartland Farm Sanctuary is an active animal care and rescue organization.
The primary work of this position takes place outdoors, on a farm, in all weather conditions.
Employees will have to navigate rough and uneven terrain while maintaining a safe learning
environment.
