The HR Generalist is a dual-focus role, split roughly 50% Talent Acquisition and 50% HR Employee Relations. In the Talent Acquisition half, the HR Generalist implements recruiting and staffing strategies that attract a diverse pool of qualified talent and owns the candidate experience from first contact through the first day at Alto-Shaam. In the HR Employee Relations half, the HR Generalist serves as a resource for employees and leaders, supporting workplace concerns, performance management, policy interpretation, and employee relations matters while escalating complex issues as appropriate. The ideal candidate for an HR Generalist would be able to do the followingTalent Acquisition (approximately 50%)Facilitate, and implement all phases of the recruitment process, using recruiting methods and strategies suited to each role, industry standards, and organizational needs. Partner with department managers to draft accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria, and to develop recruiting strategies for open positions. Manage job postings and advertising; screen applications and select qualified candidates. Schedule interviews, prepare interview questions, and participate in interviews with hiring managers. Manage the onboarding process and complete and process all new hire paperwork. Source candidates through online channels (LinkedIn, Indeed, Handshake, etc.) and through a network of recruiters, referrals, interns, and schools. Represent the Company at high school and college job fairs. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and with company policies. Employee Relations (approximately 50%) Partner with leadership to foster an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes safety, trust, continuous improvement, and teamwork. Provide day-to-day coaching to managers on employee relations issues, policy interpretation and application, talent management and development, and organizational design. Serve as a key employee relations contact for management and employees on day-to-day HR issues and ensure they are addressed promptly and that practices and procedures are applied consistently. Consult with business leaders and peers to develop employee engagement and retention strategies. Provide day-to-day HR support that strengthens employee relations and engagement and promotes a positive work environment.
