Materials Controller

The Material Controller is responsible for capacity planning, production planning, material availability and production scheduling to support customer needs. This position works collaboratively with personnel from various departments to oversee daily production operations, ensure supply chain efficiencies and monitor timelines. 

 Schedule production lines to meet changing monthly forecasts while managing inventory levels and schedules.  Review and action order release and exception messages generated.  Create and maintain weekly production schedules utilizing tools and systems and Excel. Collaborate with production managers to ensure optimum productivity and timely completion of orders Coordinate production workflow for multiple products, as well as planning and prioritizing operations in a manner that guarantees maximum performance with reduces delays.  Ensure availability of engineering data to support the build schedule. To aid in effective decision making, develop a daily and weekly monitoring and reporting process to include, production versus plan, starts versus target and product shortages.  Complete status reports and data analysis to review and evaluate production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory. Provide support to Contracts with lead-time information to enable them to appropriately handle customer enquiries. Follow through as required with all departments to expedite flow of material and documents to meet production schedules and customer expectations. Interact with shop floor management on a daily basis to determine progress of work and resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies and provide additional information as requested.  Develop and achieve departmental/company goals and controls. Make recommendations for improvement in areas of processes and productivity. Confer with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; inventory levels, and solving production problems. Support the monthly SIOP process with production and demand data.  General Skills: Must have good understanding of production operations, Quality System Procedure and SOP’s, and a good understanding of continuous improvement/LEAN methods. It is also essential that they have practical experience in production planning, production materials, forecasting and inventory. Must be proficient with MRP (Manufacturing Resource Planning)/ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) tools. Specifically Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).Production planners require influencing skills to be able to motivate and influence the production team towards attaining set targets.
