The comforts and connections of a major metropolitan city meet the resources and expertise of a world-class research institution at UW-Milwaukee.Job Summary The Associate Director for Events and Operations (Student Union Associate Director (Inst) provides the overall leadership and supervision of the following Student Union functional areas: Event Services, Building Operations (Mechanical Services/Custodial Services areas), Information Center, Building Management, Production Services, and leadership for the departmental fiscal management and budget development practices.The position is responsible for 22 full time staff and numerous student staff. Provides direction, mentoring and leadership to all staff through effective communication of expectations, performance management and guidance with day-to-day issues and conflict resolution. The position ensures facility oversight as well as planning and execution of facility renovations and major maintenance projects. The position responds to facility and operations related emergencies as requested by the Director and serves as primary departmental liaison to facility tenants. Bachelor’s degree

Four or more years of progressively increasing responsibilities in a student affairs and/or student union setting in higher education is required

At least three of the four years of experience must be directly related to managing events, building operations or facility maintenance in a leadership/supervisory capacity

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree.

Experience leading a diverse events and operations staff

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide clear communication with stakeholders (customer service)

Experience managing complex budgets and assessing operational needs.

Experience supervising and coaching managers and individuals as well as students.

Proven success independently executing complex projects (building, capital or construction/remodeling).

Strong background working with college students in the area of event management.

Demonstrated commitment to student development

Demonstrated commitment to the core values of the division

Target Salary Range $85,000 - $100,000
