Thief Wine Shop & Bar, a boutique retail wine store and on-premise wine bar inside the vibrant Milwaukee Public Market is now a bar / retail manager with a passion for wine! Professional wine experience (serving / bartending; retail; or wholesale) required.

Job Type: Full-time, salaried, exempt
Job Description: The manager will work closely with the owner & general manager and have significant input into establishing and maintaining day-to-day procedures and planning and executing long-term initiatives.
Job Expectations: High. Common sense, ability to take initiative & prioritize are essential, as is a commitment to Thief Wine.
Hours: This is a full-time position. The schedule will vary on a weekly basis; some nights and weekends are required.
On a daily basis, the Manager is responsible for:
Acting and making decisions in the best interest of Thief Wine in the absence of the owner or general manager.
Promoting Thief Wine knowledgeably and enthusiastically
Opening / closing the location (if scheduled)
Staff supervision
Ensuring excellent customer service by providing information, resolving problems, and answering questions for employees and customers
Following all general staff procedures in an exemplary fashion
Maintaining a clean and professional environment
Receiving & stocking wine
Retail Sales: assist customers with wine selections; ring up customer orders efficiently; assist customers with special order requests
Bar Sales: serve tastes, flights, glasses, and bottles of wine; compose and serve small plates of food; bus tables as needed, wash dishes and glassware
Monitoring and updating all relevant logs to keep up to date on any issues / priorities / action items; communicate and execute as necessary
On a regular basis, the Manager (in collaboration with Thief Wine owner and other managers) is responsible for:
Staff communications
Staff training
Maintaining accurate inventory and reconciliation
Working with vendors to order product / supplies / accessories as needed.
Implementing and reviewing retail / wine bar policies and procedures.
Continuously improve hospitality program to increase per person sales
Taking leadership over long-term Thief Wine initiatives, possibly including but not limited to:
Wine club expansion
Developing and maintaining ongoing staff education program
Semiannual public grand tasting event upstairs at the Public Market
Seminar development
Developing / expanding alternative revenue streams
Corporate outreach (holiday gifts, on-site tastings)
Event partnership outreach
In-home private tasting programs
Developing and executing an effective social media strategy
Developing product promotions, sales ideas, inventory displays, seasonal promotions, etc.
