Forman-Skilled Carpenter

Responsibilities:

Construct and install various types of fences, decks, and exterior structures, using both wood and metal materials.

Operate equipment such as auger, skidsteer, track machine, forklift, and trailer

Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials required as well as project layout.

Measure and cut materials accurately to ensure precise fit and alignment.

Install footings, railings, posts, panels, gates, and other components with attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Collaborate effectively with team members to complete projects on time and within budget.

Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times.

Accurately following instructions. Asking questions when unsure of how to complete something. Maintaining a sense of urgency.

Loading and unloading tools.

Keeping the trailer and shop stocked, organized, and clean. Putting tools and materials back where they belong.

Knowing what tools are regularly needed and alerting someone if tools are broken or need maintenance.

Maintaining a clean and safe jobsite (no loud music, no loose nails, following OSHA regulations).

Maintaining a clean shop space/warehouse (no loose trash, organized lumber by size, dimension, and type, swept floor, etc).

Knowing names and differences between a variety of lumber.

Knowing the names, uses, and maintenance on a variety of tools (saws, nail guns, compressors, etc).

Knowing the names, measurements, and uses of a variety of fasteners (screws, nails, hangers, brackets, bolts, construction adhesive – including various angles, lengths, threading, and proper applications). I know that different fasteners are used in different scenarios, and it is important to note not only length, but what the fastener is rated to do.

Submitting change orders to clients as needed.

Experience:

Have a firm understanding of construction principles with 5+ years of experience in the trades.

Proven track record of leading a small team and being reliable, dependable, and professional.

Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools relevant to carpentry and fence construction.

Ability to work efficiently, utilizing analytical and critical thinking skills, able to read and interpret construction documents.

Sense of urgency is a must.

Excellent attention to detail and precision in workmanship.

Physical stamina and ability to lift and carry 80lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to lead a team of 2-3 guys in an approachable and respectful way.

Friendly and professional with the ability to interact confidently with clients and subcontractors.

Valid driver's license, clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Ability to drive a large truck with a trailer.

Ability to work effectively as a team.

Pay: From $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
