The Wisconsin Humane Society is looking for a full-time Facilities Manager to lead our grounds and maintenance work across our eight locations with a focus on Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee and Racine Counties. This position supervises our team of Facilities Maintenance Specialists and reports to the Vice President of Operations. The role requires regular onsite presence and travel between locations to ensure the functionality, upkeep and safety of our buildings. Apply today; you'll be happy you did!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Lead the Work

Coordinate resources to ensure the functionality, cleanliness, upkeep, and safety of our facilities, equipment, and grounds to support our work for animals and for people.

Respond to internal maintenance requests promptly and effectively.

Oversee systems that ensure proper inventory levels for facility equipment and supplies.

Oversee team scheduling, supervision, and support for daily tasks.

Track and coordinate the maintenance of all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.

Manage multiple facility improvement projects simultaneously, including vendor selection, oversight, and coordination with internal stakeholders in alignment with organizational resources, priorities, and needs.

Execute and participate in department budgeting to ensure facility purchases and investments meet organizational needs now and in the future.

Lead the organizational safety team across locations to provide and maintain safety equipment, processes, and workplace practices.

Lead the People

Supervise and coach facility staff across locations using WHS’s supervisory processes, people-centered approach, and values.

Support performance and professional growth of the team through effective hiring, onboarding, and training of staff.

Collaborate within and across teams to maintain the alignment of people, processes, and organizational functions.

Lead the Culture

Foster a culture of inclusion by seeking input and perspectives from others.

Create and support a workplace environment that exemplifies WHS’s values and people-centered approach.

Build relationships and communicate organizational and team strategic direction, priorities, values, and key information.

Qualifications:

Ability to work as part of a team and inspire great performance to achieve results; prior supervisory experience preferred.

Previous maintenance experience required; experience in a high-traffic commercial facility preferred.

Commitment to the mission, values, goals, and people-centered philosophy of WHS.

Ability to flex schedule to support the team as needed, including occasional weekend shifts, evening shifts, on-call, and/or holidays.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate to solve problems.

Ability and willingness to travel between WHS locations as needed.

Ability to manage multiple maintenance projects simultaneously with timely, quality and cost-effective results.

Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, which include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, ladder work, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motions and heavy work.
