As we continue to grow, we seek a skilled and dedicated Construction Mechanic to join our team.
We are currently looking for a reliable and experienced Construction Mechanic to play a crucial role in ensuring the proper maintenance and operation of our construction equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery, quad axle trucks, small equipment, vehicles, and trailers used in the construction industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Shop and yard upkeep and cleanliness
Perform routine maintenance on construction equipment, including but not limited to excavators, pavers, loaders, trailers, and trucks as well as small equipment and tools.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in a timely and efficient manner.
Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure equipment is ready for use on construction sites.
Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair work, including parts used and time spent on each task.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Ability to operate and manage the use of equipment – welder, forklift, etc.
Competent welding ability.
Ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds frequently.
Parts ordering.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Our successful candidate will have various skills, expertise, and experience to work independently. Qualified candidates must possess the following requirements and characteristics:
Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and manage workload independently.
Technical degree or certification in diesel mechanics or a related field.
Prior experience in the construction industry.
Welding and fabrication skills.
Familiarity with a variety of construction equipment brands.
Proven experience as a Construction Mechanic, with a focus on heavy equipment.
Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
Strong knowledge of construction equipment and their components.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Basic computer skills for record-keeping purposes.
Attention to detail.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
A valid State of Wisconsin Driver’s License with an excellent driving record. A CDL license is preferred.
