The Reality:
-Prepare for relentless pressure to meet tight deadlines and KPIs
-Monday-Friday be on sight at the OnTrac warehouse for driver support
-Expect to be on call on weekends to handle emergencies and unforeseen issues
-Navigate the complex relationships between drivers, dispatchers, OnTrac and upper management
-Deal with frequent driver turnover and the constant need to recruit and train
-Handle irate customers when deliveries go wrong (and they will)
-Manage a fleet of vehicles prone to breakdowns and unexpected maintenance issues
-Juggle multiple priorities while keeping a cool head in high-stress situations
-Work weekends and holidays when the logistics world doesn't stop
-Earn $45,000 per year, paid bi-monthly
-Implement cost-cutting measures that may be unpopular with your team
-Face the consequences when targets are missed, regardless of the reasons
Duties:
-Planning and optimizing logistics processes.
-Managing warehouse operations and Fleet control.
-Coordinating OnTrac shipments and deliveries.
-Negotiating with drivers. customers and OnTrac.
-Ensuring compliance with OnTrac and logistics regulations.
1. Focus Area: Territory and logistics management.
2. Scope and Authority: Authority over territory and logistics operations.
3. Strategic vs. Tactical: Both strategic (process improvement) and tactical (coordination).
4. Interaction with Other Departments: Works with dispatch, driver, OnTrac and executive roles.
Responsibilities:
-Territory Management: Oversee the entire Milwaukee territory logistics, from training new drivers to maintaining vendor relations. Be prepared for pushback and resistance to change.
-Vehicle Management: Manage a fleet of vehicles that seem to break down at the worst possible times. Coordinate repairs while still meeting delivery schedules.
-Transportation Management: Coordinate the transportation of goods in an ever-changing landscape of traffic, weather, and driver availability.
-Vendor Relations: Manage relationships with OnTrac and Contractor drivers. Be the buffer between conflicting interests and demands.
-Process Improvement: Implement strategies to improve logistical efficiency, often with limited resources and tight budgets.
Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or equivalent experience
-2-5 years of experience in logistics roles (the more battle-scars, the better)
-Thick skin and ability to handle criticism from all directions
-Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make tough decisions under pressure
-Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get hands-on when necessary
-Unflappable demeanor in the face of constant challenges and setbacks
