Volm Companies is seeking a print press operator or assistant willing to train to operator position to maintain and run the print press machine according to production and quality specifications. Operators are responsible for machine maintenance, safety, production, quality, quantity and housekeeping. This position is preferably third shift but second shift would be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities
Must understand and carry out the production schedule for printing press including shift flexibility
Perform set-up of print press including printing plates, color matching, registration, and label slitting
Print labels to customer standards and specifications
Recognize, remove, and report poor quality labels
Must learn and utilize X-Rite Color Analysis software, and maintain color database
Perform basic machine maintenance including:
- maintain clean work area
- general machine cleaning
- general machine greasing and other duties
General label printing and associated duties
Reading and comprehending production schedule
Reading and comprehending customer orders and job paperwork
Understand and follow Volm Companies safety policies and procedures
Understand and uphold Volm Companies quality expectations
Maintain open communication with coworkers, supervisors, and management
Perform print press machine operation and general maintenance
Must have the ability to earn and maintain Volm Companies Powered Industrial Truck certification to operate lift equipment including pallet jack, propane lift truck and battery lift truck
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma
Basic mathematical calculation skills
Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
Basic computer knowledge
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail
Previous print press experience is desired. Flexographic print press experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements
Standing and walking 90% of the shift
Can lift up to 60 lbs.
Be able to push, pull, squat, bend or reach 10% of the workday
Be able to handle, grasp, and perform repetitive motions
Have eye/hand/foot coordination
Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 60 degrees to 90+ depending on the season and the department
Pay for this position is $18-$20 per hour, depending on experience with shift differential and attendance premium. This is a full-time benefitted position including medical, dental, vision and company paid long-term and short-term and life insurance.
