May perform or assist the resident with completing dressing or other personal cares

Responds to residents when needed to provide maximum comfort, safety and privacy.

May assist residents by ambulation or by wheelchair to areas of center (dining room, lobby and activities).

Serves meals and assists with preparing for eating as needed (opening packets, cutting food etc.)

Reports any significant findings/observations

Performs light housekeeping and laundry

Follow proper infection control techniques.

Respects the rights of each resident, particularly privacy and confidentiality.

Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement and ensures follow-up occurs.

Converses with resident and family; assists them on adjustment to center; handles complaints effectively and develops relationships necessary for resident’s psychosocial needs to be met.

Encourages adequate hydration and nutrition of resident; reports deviations from norm and reports changes

May perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations weights accurately

Follows safe working practices and reports any incidents promptly to Center Management

Maintains effective communication with residents, families and center staff.

Other duties as assigned by Center Management

May assist residents participating or conduct group activity programs

Qualifications

Past experience in providing personal care

Verbal ability is required to communicate with residents and to understand instructions received from nursing staff.

A preference for performing direct care services is a benefit.

Able to perform a variety of activities characterized by change and short duration in caring for residents.

Ability to read and write and accurately report.
