Role Summary The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer serves as the discipline lead on multi‑disciplinary projects, responsible for all I&C deliverables, estimating engineering effort, maintaining schedules, and communicating effectively with clients and project team. The role includes full‑scope I&C design from specifying instrumentation, control systems, and safety controls to producing detailed drawings, lists, narratives, and construction packages while also supporting field data collection, commissioning, and startup. Responsibilities: Discipline Lead on multi-discipline projects responsible for I&C deliverables, estimating engineering effort, meeting project schedule, and communication with clients and project team. Participate in studies preparing cost estimates for instrumentation and control systems. Provide input into Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s). Specify control system components for DCS and PLC systems. Specify various types of instrumentation for flow, pressure, level, temperature, and analytical measurement. Collaborate with process engineers and vendors to size and specify control valves. Work with design staff to generate Loop Diagrams and Junction Box Wiring Diagrams. Develop project lists including Instrument Index, I/O List, Panel List, and Cable List. Prepare Instrument Installation Details. Work with design staff to develop Plan Drawings to identify locations of control valves, instrumentation, control panels, junction boxes and cable trays. Coordinate with piping design team to ensure proper installation of control valves and in-line instrumentation as well as compressed air distribution. Develop E-Stop safety control design utilizing safety relays and safety PLCs. Review and integrate Vendor equipment documentation into construction packages. Write Loop Control Narratives to be utilized for control system programming. Prepare bid, construction, and demo packages for contractor use to include written scope of work. Visit customer sites to gather field data for detailed design. Provide field support during construction, commissioning, and start-up. This position supports office-based, hybrid (part‑time office/part‑time remote), or fully remote when office location is outside reasonable commuting distance.
