This innovative program, embedded within the medical school, prepares students with the technical, ethical, and regulatory expertise needed to advance AI integration in healthcare workflows, including rural health initiatives. The faculty member will support program administration and growth, ensuring students receive a rigorous, cutting-edge education for impactful careers in healthcare. Additionally, they will collaborate with faculty, researchers, and industry partners to further the school’s mission at the intersection of AI, biomedical sciences, and rural healthcare improvement.Primary ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the Director of the Master’s in Applied Biomedical Sciences program to develop and execute its vision, ensuring alignment with medical school and university goals, with a focus on improving healthcare delivery in rural areas. Work with the Curriculum Team to develop learning outcomes that incorporate public health, epidemiology, and rural health concepts, while aligning with the evolving role of AI in healthcare research for medical students and Master’s degree students. Ensure high-quality instruction and mentorship, fostering an engaging learning environment that supports strong student satisfaction and prepares students for the unique healthcare challenges faced by rural communities. Support accreditation processes and ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional standards. Establish partnerships with healthcare institutions, public health agencies, research organizations, and industry experts to provide students with opportunities for real-world experiences, internships, and exposure to advancements in public health, epidemiology, and rural healthcare research. Promote interdisciplinary collaboration among AI specialists, public health researchers, healthcare professionals, and rural health advocates to drive AI-powered innovations in public health research and improve healthcare outcomes in underserved areas. Facilitate lectures, workshops, and networking events to introduce students to core concepts in public health, epidemiology, and rural health, while connecting them with the latest AI developments and their applications in improving healthcare access and delivery. Support public health research initiatives, securing funding through grants and partnerships with healthcare organizations, government agencies, and industry to advance AI applications in public health, with a focus on rural health challenges. Provide academic advising and mentorship to support students’ career development and success.Please note this position is located in Conroe at the newly developed College of Osteopathic Medicine facility.Educational Requirements for the Position (Faculty Positions Only): A Ph.D., DO, MD, or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, Epidemiology, Data Science, or related disciplines).Experience Required for the Position (Faculty Positions Only): Preferred QualificationsExtensive experience in public health and epidemiology research, including the use of AI in areas such as disease surveillance, disease modeling and predictive analyses, population health management, health equity, and big data integration involving Electronic Health Records (EHRs). Expertise in public health with a strong understanding of the ethical, regulatory, and clinical considerations involved in AI applications. Experience in medical or healthcare-focused academic programs. Proven success in grant writing and securing external funding. Active engagement in public health research with use of AI based applications in predictive modeling and analyses. Expertise in developing and delivering online or hybrid learning environments. Knowledge of regulatory and policy frameworks related to AI in public health research.
