Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of five years experience working with print and online design or in a related field. Prior experience working in a higher education environment preferred. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties: Ensure the effective and efficient management of the creative process from concept development to print production and fulfillment. Makes measurable contributions to the University’s objectives related to brand and external outreach.Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only): Leads creative sessions for project kick-offs. Manages multiple projects from conception through completion. Develops creative programs and design concepts that meet the university’s objectives and advance the department’s branding strategy. Supervises and inspires a creative team of vendor partners. Generates multiple concepts for a campaign or project. Works with account and strategy teams and copywriters to develop concepts and present them to management. Works with internal and external clients/teams to generate ideas for proposals. Provides quality control over concepts and projects. Formulates basic layout design or presentation approach and specifies material details, such as style and size of print, photographs, graphics, animation, video, and sound. Reviews and approves proofs of printed copy, art, and copy materials developed by staff members. Manages own accounts and projects, working within budgeting and scheduling requirements. Confers with clients to determine objectives, budget, background information, presentation approaches, styles, and techniques. Presents final layouts to clients for approval. Review illustrative material to determine that it conforms to standards and specifications. Attends photo shoots and printing sessions to ensure needed products are obtained. Creates custom illustrations or other graphic elements. Negotiates with printers and estimators to determine what services will be performed. Interfaces with print vendors and oversees production process. Develops visual designs when necessary and is also responsible for recruiting and managing third-party design firms and/or other internal design resources. Performs other related duties as assigned.
