Job Title:Director of Human ResourcesLocation: Huntsville, AL (On-Site)Canvas is a growing, dynamic organization seeking a Human Resource (HR) Director to be an active contributor to the leadership of our company! The HR Director will lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and the HR department team. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of HR in a federal contractor environment and the passion for improving HR services to align with Canvas' strategy. Collaborate with Canvas leadership to understand our goals and strategy. Lead the HR team to deliver innovative, appealing, thoughtful, and compliant approaches to recruit and retain our workforce.
Mentor, train, guide and support a HR team consisting of recruiters, generalists, and benefits administrators.
Facilitate professional development, training, and certification for the HR staff.
Manage and refine employee standards and procedures, using existing HR systems as well as identifying current trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies.
Effectively communicate opportunities for improvement, apply and share knowledge, and communicate changes to corporate leadership and to the workforce.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Also ensures compliance with Federal Contracting requirements and implements processes/procedures to meet the specific contract terms.
Research, negotiate and implement employee benefits plans that are cost effective for the organization while meeting the health and welfare needs of employees.
Plan, monitor, and appraise HR activities to recognize and reward excellence along with areas for improvement.
Lead efforts to continuously improve corporate services.
Enhance Canvas' ability to coach and manage performance.
Develops approaches for positive recognition and appreciation for performance.
Handles negative performance in accordance with company policy.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field
?
10 years or more of relevant experience in HR, to include at least 3 years of experience leading HR team members, processes, and compliance required.
Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
Demonstrated advanced-level verbal and written communication skills.?
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to act with integrity and professionalism.
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification desired.
DoD Contractor experience is highly desired.
Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint highly desired.
