Practice sound design techniques across a variety of areas including structural design for weldments and bolted assemblies, design of effective thermal dissipation solutions, and design of custom electronics enclosures.
Practice sound design techniques for CNC machined, water jet / laser cut, bent sheet metal, and 3D printed parts.
Maintain design ownership throughout full lifecycle of projects: concept, design, prototyping, integration, deployment.
Work independently with little oversight and as part of a broader multi-disciplined engineering team.
Work collaboratively with project team(s) to formulate innovative solutions to complex problems and products across a broad range of applications.
Own the design process from concept to prototype, detailing block diagrams, systems architecture, and producing drawing packages to push the system to production.
Coordinate with purchasing department and outside machine shops to procure hardware.
Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and technician teams to help facilitate the assembly, integration, and deployment of designs.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited university with 3-20 years of relevant experience or MS degree with 5-15 years of relevant experience.
Adept at mechanical and/or electrical TDP creation, including fabrication, wiring and assembly drawings, SCDs, and ICDs, using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
Experience with PDM/PLM systems (EPDM/Agile preferred).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortable interfacing with internal and external customers
Experience collaborating with and/or leading a multi-disciplinary team.
Willingness to learn and/or to refine existing skills.
Availability to travel to support testing and other events (< 10%).
Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Competency in GD&T.
Competency with Solidworks Simulation.
Competency with Solidworks Flow Sim.
Cable design experience: power transfer and chassis hook-up, network / low current, RF / coax, fiber optic.
Competency with static and dynamics analysis/problem solving in MATLAB or similar.
Comfortable with electromechanical assemblies
Active SECRET security clearance or higher.
