The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer located in Huntsville, AL. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring that customer requirements are correctly interpreted and that they are consistent with the Statement of Work and the program's Work Breakdown Structure. In addition, this position will also decompose all Production requirements as they pertain the production system through the product life cycle.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Consult with upper management on long-range planning to conceptualize and oversee the implementation of the program architecture for build
  • Coordinate with Program management & PE Management to establish Team Execution Plan (TEP) and team composition/ staffing requirements
  • Lead BDS Programs Production Systems Design, Development, and Deployment
  • Lead Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in analyzing product development, innovative producibility studies and production/tooling philosophies
  • Lead and conduct producibility and variation analyses at the program Large Scale Systems Integration (LSSI) level
  • Lead producibility and manufacturability trade studies as well as maintain and resolve Risk Issue Opportunities and Knowledge Gaps
  • Develop, maintain and mature manufacturing plans and production system concepts in accordance with program requirements
  • Deploy and interpret new engineering requirements, standards, technologies and manufacturing processes while capturing lessons learned and ensuring proper process documentation
  • Support Company & Industry Best Practice development and integration
  • Consult on production system logistics; as well as lean principles and technologies for enterprise wide initiatives
  • Establish procedures, standards, protocols and reporting requirements. Ensuring company and industry standards are followed and questionable or conflicting requirements are resolved and documented


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires ship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years of experience conducting manufacturing engineering tasks using any of the following: Work Instructions (WI), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Model Based Definition, Model Based Instructions processes and procedures
  • Experience with people management and Integrated Program Team (IPT) leadership
  • Experience with the concepts of Model Based Engineering, Digital Thread, and Digital System Modeling


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of experience with Manufacturing Execution System Common Image (MESci) in the development and release of work instructions and non-conformance dispositions
  • 3+ years of experience working cross-functionally across multiple product development disciplines
  • Experience with ProE/CREO or Windchill applications
  • Experience utilizing scheduling systems and tools to create and maintain production schedules


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
