This position assures quality work, on-time delivery, with the least expense possible and in a safe manner. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of equipment in the department.Essential Functions:This job is accountable for steel fabrication operations. The Production Supervisor is directly responsible for the production on their shift, they must supervise to keep the lowest possible cost, on-time deliveries, acceptable quality, and a safe environment.The Production Supervisor executes guidelines to maintain a good workforce. They must be knowledgeable in all machine operations working with the Plant Manager, General Manager, and other production supervisors to have a good working relationship throughout the plant.As Production Supervisor of the department, the incumbent is responsible for:
The maintenance of their department's equipment
The safety of their department's employees
The quality of products produced in their area
Their goal is to ensure that each employee under their supervision accepts the ownership and responsibility for:
Quality
Safety
Maintenance of their equipment.
Should be able to obtain information from their superior as to what projects need to be achieved.
Communicate with others to determine the proper procedure to get the task accomplished.
Analyze setup time to be sure its accurate, review labor hours, and meet production control schedules.
Must work with everyone in the organization to try and improve production.
Keep up with what manpower we have, what type of experience we need, how we can use our manpower more efficiently to keep our costs down and to satisfy our customers.
To implement and monitor procedures for proper logging of materials when bringing in materials or shipping out jobs for material.
Keep quality level high within the department.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Responsible to provide leadership, direction, and compliance with Valmont Tuscaloosa’s loss control objectives, OSHA, EPA, NRC, and other applicable regulations.
Achieves an overall 85-90% favorable rating, annually of all expectations outlined in Valmont’s Supervisor Safety Performance Evaluation.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
3-5 years of experience as a supervisor or lead man in a metal fabrication environment that exhibits the candidate’s skills and capabilities to meet the principle accountabilities of the position
High School diploma or GED equivalent
College degree preferred
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
Experience with Lean Manufacturing
Experience with OSHA regulations
Machinist experience
