Job InformationOpen to the general public and any current Municipal employee.This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility (AWWU) HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. LOCATION OF WORK: 3000 Arctic Boulevard Example of DutiesUnder general direction perform various reviews of accounting data and budget analysis. Review data entry into the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) module and the Municipal financial management system to ensure data conforms with generally accepted accounting principles, AWWU accounting structure, Municipal Policies and Procedures and title 7 of Municipal code. Prepare monthly Board of Director financial statements. Prepare special studies, inquiries, reports or analysis as requested by AWWU management. Assist in monthly closure procedures by reviewing accounting data to ensue data is in accordance with AWWU accounting structure and preparing journal entries to correct. Support year-end financial statement activity by preparing year-end reconciliations of general ledger accounts, work papers summarizing payment activity, accrual tracking & reporting, and preparation of reports included in the Statistical section for AWWU’s audited standalone financial statements. Analyze and project various operational expenses such as labor, utilities, telecommunication, waste removal, etc. Provide guidance and technical assistance to AWWU employees in matters related to the Municipal financial management system, purchase requisitions, and fund certifications. Serve as a purchase card holder for Finance and other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in accounting, payroll, or similar office responsibility.ORAssociate’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Management, Business Administration or a related discipline and five (5) years of professional accounting work experience.ORBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Management, Business Administration or a related discipline and three (3) years of professional accounting work experience.ORA certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and three (3) years of professional accounting work experience.Preferences:

Applicants who are certified as a Public Accountant, Financial Analyst, Management Accountant, or Government Financial Manager.
