The incumbent will work across the Museum and into communities to advance experimental engagement and collections access through human-centered research, digital assets, and resources at the Museum s Atwood Resource Center. This grant-funded position is intended to be broad and in service of the museum s public mission, which includes a focus on inclusivity, diversity, equity, accessibility and social action.This is a three-year term position. Essential FunctionsWork as part of a team to expand access to and use of the Atwood Resource Center for traditional and non-traditional researchersLead engagement around new media, social media, social action, diversity and inclusion so that the Anchorage Museum is positioned for the futureExplore innovative approaches to archival and published resources accessIncrease outreach to undeserved and expanded communities through partnership, collaboration, and programmingStaff the front desk of archives/library to ensure that the space is open to the public during public hours of the MuseumDevelop, maintain and host an active schedule of public programsIdentify and promote marginal or absent voices through perspective and diversityWorking with Museum design staff, explore, research, and implement changes to the physical space of the Center to create a welcoming space for researchers and other members of the publicProvide reference assistance and instruction to researchers, artists, and members of the general publicHost classes and groups in the CenterParticipate in, propose and support social media initiativesDevelop open digital content and recommend policies and procedures for future use of collections resourcesMaintain national standards for archives and libraries, while forming new pathways to broaden the impact of accessProvide curatorial assistance to Museum staff and visiting curatorsWork with curators, designers, artists and Museum staff to develop zine, mini-book and other creative print and online materials to highlight collections and community storiesDevelop finding aids that support non-traditional research and current issuesWork with Museum staff to consider, curate, design and implement exhibitions and displays of relevant materials for the publicWork with Museum FellowsParticipate in realizing goals for archives/library identified within the Collections PlanHighlight visiting Museum researchers through public signage and programsCoordination of interns, fellows and guest curatorsIdentify, seek, and write grants to support the programmatic and archival outreach workWork within budgets
