Fire & Gas DrafterDescriptionSummaryApplies engineering principles to design, modify or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes used in processing or manufacturing products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Interprets and applies redline marks to AutoCAD drawings, updating or creating new drawings to accurately and efficiently produce designs.

Proficiently operates various AutoCAD systems. Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform design tasks.

Consistently demonstrates example skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, handling a client’s changing needs, communications, operational efficiencies, decision making, and analyzing and solving problems.

Communicates with design and engineering staff to bring up questions to be corrected or clarified all in the interest of creating accurate drawings and to progress drafter knowledge.

Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technical changes and developments in industry.

Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.

QualificationsEducation/Experience

Certificate in AutoCAD or equivalent design experience required.

At least one (1) year of experience in Electrical/Instrumentation drafting and exposure to fire alarm design in the oil & gas industry preferred.

Language Ability:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, client or employees of organization.Math Ability:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Reasoning Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
